If anyone tried to watch the shuttle launch yesterday, you saw what a rainy, stormy, cloudy day it was here.
Perfect day for sewing and I had few other plans for the day.
I had some great fabric that I was anxious to try my hand at some potholders. Not any old potholder, a pretty potholder. The kind that makes you want to take something hot out of the oven just to use your potholder. The kind you want to leave laying around on the counter because you like looking at them.
But this? What a flop. Too small, don't like the binding, do not want to hand sew all that binding down, take too long to make, too blah, looks like the kind you could buy at Publix in the kitchenwares aisle.
The only thing good about it is the fabric.
Back to the sketchpad and I measured and thought and measured and thought about construction some more.
And voila -- the new and improved design!
Contrasting fabrics, a layer of Insul-brite for heat protecting, a layer of cotton batting, quilting with contrasting threads.
